Initially, when I opened 'MAYA' I was incredibly worried. It looked far more complicated than any program I had used before. However through the guidance of my instructor and a few tutorials, I believe I'm starting to get the hang of this. Block out animation is very time-consuming and a bit stressful. It's much like a complex puzzle and I very much enjoy it. The shortcut keys have taken me a while to get used to considering the fact that I work mostly with 'Adobe' products and there short cuts are much different. I have also gotten faster at modeling over this short week and I have gone from it taking 4-5 hours on one model to 2-3. That mostly has to do with learning the interface better and getting used to the shortcuts (also discovering the duplicate shortcut).
In the above picture, is an exercise we did to get to know the program interface and some key tools. We had to assemble scattered blocks into the shown shapes. Fpr some reason the blocks were not there. So I made the pieces my self the model pieces myself.
Other than that 'MAYA' worked nicely with me.
I submitted my five model project. We were given reference images to create models using just primitives. I've highlighted the two I was most proud of.
This is the Coil I did, in the background you can see a spark plug
and the end of a magnifying glass.
Here is a candlestick holder, in the background you can see a bottle stopper
and the rest of the magnifying glass.
Through this, I have learned better problem-solving skills that are sure to help me in my future career and I look forward to learning more.
